Farmer's Note
Though generations of my family were deeply rooted in traditions and customs of the tea industry, for the 50 years I have been with tea, I have always been seeking more creative ways to grow and present tea. We insist on no chemical fertilizer or pesticides usage. Rather, we use sheep manure to nourish the soil, and weeding is done by hand. In fact, we pride ourselves on having an “unruly” tea garden.
This King of Hearts wulong tea was a product of fortuity. I originally intended to use the Golden Peony cultivar to create a peach-forward red tea. But in the roasting stage, I realized its peach aroma and aftertaste reached a climax at a medium-oxidation level. King of Hearts wulong tea thus was born. The word "king" is a reference to the cultivar used, as peony is known as "The King of Flowers" in China.
