Farmer's Note
In 2013, I left my corporate job in Beijing and moved to Jinghong, a rural area of Yunnan province in Southwestern China, to chase my dream of owning a tea farm. I was young and full of energy, running in the mountains soaking in an abundance of knowledge about the forest, cultures, and - most importantly - tea. Finally, I acquired two tea gardens inside an ancient forest with a self-sustainable ecosystem at 5,100ft elevation. Iron-rich soil and biodiversity allow us to forgo pesticide and fertilizer usage on the Pu’er big leaf tea trees. Working together with the locals, we insist on using traditional Raw Pu’er making techniques to create this tea. This particular Raw Pu’er from Bama Village is known to be gentle at first, followed by immediate cha qi (strong tea energy), known as 外柔内刚 (pronounced as “wai rou nei gang”).
